Privacy

This page tells you what data PeekSeek keeps about you. It also tells you why we keep it, who else can see it, and how to get it back or removed.

PeekSeek is a volunteer project. We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertisements.

Who is responsible

PeekSeek controls this data. Write to peekseek@kcvdh.com about anything on this page. You can also ask in our Discord.

What we keep

1 Your Steam ID. This is your account on PeekSeek.
2 Your Steam name and avatar. We get these from Steam and show them on your profile and on the ladder.
3 A session ID. This is a random number that keeps you logged in.
4 Your Discord ID, if you link your Discord account. We use it to tell you when your match starts.
5 Your game settings, such as your kits and your outfit.
6 Your match results, your rank and your statistics.
7 Each IP address that your account connects from.
8 Ban records, if a moderator bans you. A record holds the reason, the length and who gave the ban.

Why we keep it

We keep items 1 to 6 to give you the service that you asked for. You cannot play without them.

We keep items 7 and 8 to stop banned players from coming back on a new account. This protects the other players, and it is our legitimate interest. Write to us if you disagree, and we will look at your case.

Cookies

1 Session. Holds your session ID and keeps you logged in. Necessary.
2 Gamemode. Holds the gamemode that you chose last. Necessary.
3 Consent. Holds your answer to the cookie banner, for 180 days. Necessary.

The three cookies above are necessary, so you cannot switch them off. PeekSeek cannot work without them.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visits and to see which pages people use. This helps us make the site better.

Google Analytics is not necessary, so it waits for your permission. It only starts after you select Accept on the cookie banner. If you select Reject, PeekSeek loads no analytics and sets no analytics cookie.

You can change your answer at any time. Delete the PeekSeek cookies in your browser. The banner then comes back, and you can answer again.

Analytics reports show groups of visitors, not single people. Google is a separate company and processes this data on servers outside Europe.

Who else can see your data

1 Steam, which signs you in and supplies your name and avatar.
2 Discord, if you link your account, so that we can send you a message.
3 Google Analytics, but only after you accept.
4 PeekSeek game servers, which get the roster of a match that they run.

Our moderators can see ban records and IP records. No other player can.

PeekSeek runs on a dedicated server that we rent from OVH Cloud. OVH supplies the machine, but it cannot read the data that we keep on it, so it is not on the list above.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account exists. Ask us to delete your account and we remove it.

We keep IP records and ban records for as long as the ban can be avoided. These records are how an IP ban works, so we keep them after a ban ends.

Match results stay on the ladder. If we delete your account, we remove your name from these results.

Your rights

The GDPR gives you these rights. Write to peekseek@kcvdh.com to use any of them.

1 Get a copy of all data that we hold about you.
2 Correct personal data that is wrong, such as a wrong linked account, or a result recorded against the wrong player.
3 Get your data deleted.
4 Limit what we do with your data.
5 Get your data in a file that you can move elsewhere.
6 Ask us to stop keeping the IP and ban records. We must then look at your case again. We stop, unless we can show that the reason to keep them is stronger than your interest. We tell you which one it is, and why.
7 Take back your permission for analytics.

We answer within 30 days. We do not ask you to pay.

Two limits, because a ban must keep working. Right 2 applies to facts, and a ban is a decision that a moderator made, so you cannot use right 2 to remove a ban or to change its reason. Right 3 does not remove a ban record or the IP records that make the ban work, because we keep those for the reason given above.

You can still dispute a ban. Ask us in our Discord to look at it again. If you tell us that you disagree with a ban, we keep that note with the record.

If our answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country.

Children

PeekSeek signs you in through Steam, so you need a Steam account. We do not knowingly keep data about a child below the age that your country sets for permission. Write to us if you think that we do, and we will remove it.
